Turnkey design of land reclamation systems (irrigation and drainage) and hydraulic structures
We design irrigation and drainage systems on a turnkey basis: from the water intake and pumping station to the irrigation pipeline in the field or the drainage that removes excess water from farmland. Irrigation and drainage is a long-standing core area of the institute’s work, so we know well how the canals of southern Ukraine are built, which soils and water sources we have to deal with, and where older systems most often fail.
Today, using existing irrigated land efficiently matters more than expanding it. Reconstructing a network and switching to drip or sprinkler irrigation reduces water losses and the cost of electricity for pumping, while properly designed drainage preserves soil fertility and protects the soil from salinization and waterlogging.
We carry out surveys, calculate water demand and irrigation regimes, compare technical options, select equipment and prepare design and cost estimate documentation ready for expert review and construction.
What we design
- Irrigation systems: drip, sprinkler and surface irrigation
- Closed irrigation networks of pressure pipelines
- Drainage systems, open and subsurface drains
- Irrigation pumping stations and booster pumping stations
- Water intakes from rivers, canals and reservoirs
- Reconstruction of main and distribution canals, restoration of canal linings
- Hydraulic structures: regulating sluices, drops, outlets, inverted siphons
- Electrical solutions for pumping stations
- Environmental impact assessment and cost estimate documentation
How the work proceeds
Stage 1. Initial data
You provide the site boundaries, crop rotation plan, water source and preferred irrigation method. If needed, we help you draft the design brief.
Stage 2. Surveys
We carry out topographic, geological and hydrogeological surveys and inspect existing canals, water intakes and pumping stations.
Stage 3. Technical solutions
We calculate the water balance and irrigation regimes, compare several options by construction and operating costs, and choose the best one together with you.
Stage 4. Design documentation
We prepare drawings, equipment specifications and the cost estimate, and support the project through expert review.
Stage 5. Designer’s supervision
During construction, we check that the system is installed exactly as designed.
Who it’s for
